Nurturing Somali Heritage, Language, and Identity

Taageero Cymru is a vibrant, community-led initiative dedicated to empowering Somali children with a deep understanding of their cultural roots. We create an enriching environment where young people can learn about Somali history, traditions, and language through engaging lessons, cultural activities, and community events. Our mission is to inspire pride, strengthen identity, and build a strong, connected community for the next generation.

what we do

SOmali language education

We provide weekly Somali language classes for children, focusing on speaking, reading, and writing. Our dedicated tutors and volunteers create a supportive environment that helps young learners build confidence and fluency while staying connected to their heritage.

Cultural Workshops

From cultural workshops and storytelling sessions to cooking classes and art activities, we offer hands-on experiences that bring Somali traditions to life. These activities deepen children’s understanding of their roots and foster pride in their cultural identity.

Community Events

We host community celebrations, heritage festivals, and meaningful events that bring families together. These gatherings strengthen community bonds, promote cultural awareness, and create joyful opportunities for children to learn, socialise, and grow.

history lessons

Our history lessons introduce children to Somalia’s rich past through engaging activities, visual resources, and discussions that highlight events, cultural traditions, and influential figures shaping Somali heritage.

COoking classes

Our cooking classes give children a fun, hands-on experience of Somali culture as they learn traditional dishes, explore ingredient meanings, and discover the stories behind treasured recipes.

We organise enriching field trips to places of cultural and educational significance. These may include museums, exhibitions, community centres, and events related to Somali history and heritage.
